A red mage is a master of not just skill at arms, but combining arcane and divine magic with theurgic flair. While this leaves them less time to focus on their swordplay, they remain invaluable for both support and combat, and are seeing a resurgence throughout Eorzea.

Red Mages are an archetype of the Pathfinder RPG magus, based on the job from the Final Fantasy series and Final Fantasy XIV in particular.

Class Features

Improved Cantrips (Su): A red mage adds her intelligence modifier to damage rolls made with cantrips, and multiplies the number of damage dice for her cantrips by the highest level of spell she can cast.

Diminished Spellcasting: A red mage has one fewer spell slot of each level beyond 0 than a regular magus. If this reduces her number of spell slots of a particular level to zero, she can cast spells of that level only if her Intelligence allows bonus spells of that level.

This feature alter's the magus's spellcasting.

Dualcast (Su): After successfully damaging a creature with a cantrip, the red mage can spend a move action to accelerate the magic flowing through her weapon and channel it into her next spell, applying the Quicken Spell feat to the next spell she casts on her turn. This does not alter the level of the spell.

This feature replaces Spell Combat.

Magus Theurgy (Su): At 4th level, the red mage adds two spells from the cleric/oracle spell list that she can cast to her spell list and spellbook, which must be of a level that she can cast. These are treated as divine magic when cast, except that she does not need a holy symbol. Every 3 levels thereafter, the red mage can add another cleric/oracle spell to her spell list, adding it to her spellbook alongside one magus spell instead of the normal two magus spells added for free that level. When taking the Spell Blending magus arcana, she can also take spells from the cleric/oracle spell list.

This feature replaces Spell Recall and Greater Spell Recall.

Delayed Spell Combat (Su): The red mage gains the Spell Combat magus class feature at 7th level.

This feature replaces Knowledge Pool.

Nimble (Ex): At 7th level, the red mage gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC while wearing light or no armour. Anything that causes the red mage to lose her Dexterity bonus to AC also causes her to lose this dodge bonus. The bonus increases by 1 for every 4 levels beyond 7th (to a maximum of +4 at 19th level).

This feature replaces Medium Armour and Heavy Armour.

Greater Theurgy (Su): At 19th level, the red mage can select from both the cleric/oracle and sorcerer/wizard spell lists when gaining spells from Greater Spell Access. As with Magus Theurgy, the cleric/oracle spells are still treated as divine spells when cast by a red mage.

This feature alters Greater Spell Access.

Magus Arcana: The following magus arcana complement the red mage archetype: arcane deed, close range, flamboyant arcana, spell blending
