While the caretakers, as they'd called themselves, had treated the children with care and dignity, if not much love, it was a far cry from the subject slavery that Aileen had found herself in. She had been kept awake for two days now, chained to the floor of this - this vessel, whatever it was. Captured from what had once been her home, these - 'True Freecasters' as she'd heard them calling themselves, had brought her first to one place - keeping her under guard, hands locked up and gagged. While they could not stop the whisphered voices or those items moving around her, the little spirits that constantly surrounded her were of little help here, more intent on playing about jangling her chains than freeing her. And once she'd been chained down securely, here, Aileen had been kept awake by the constant ritual being cast around her. While she was no longer gagged, the solemn, grey-faced men and women had ignored her attempts to talk, only feeding her like a child. Only the bare minimum was given for privacy, the strange spells cast around, and through her, and the wooden walls did not block out all the wind - suffice to say - it was not a pleasant experience at all.

What she gets instead is ... is that chalk? And a flask of oil. At least they were trying. Were they? It could be on purpose after all. She closes her eyes and tries to focus on a good thought. Was there a reason to try though? Still .. it was better than nothing .. probably. How long had she been in here? She did not know anymore, everything a bit of grey. | + | '''<Remnant_GM>''' "Nice smells are good... but oh hey this smells odd!" The oil isn't quite.. odd, but it was distinctive. "Is cinnamon good to eat?" Around Aileen, circles of runes surround the girl, concentric rings - chalk outlines, enmeshed with her chain outlines. "Do you remember Tanny? She was very annoying, but was funny to smell. Was that what cinnamon smells like?" Tanny - one of the girls at the monastery. That seemed so long ago.

She opens her eyes a little, blinking, and looks at the oil flask. Was it cooking oil? Oil for a lamp? Some other kind of oil? What does cinnamon have to do with oil? .. oh .. "It is .. but not on it's own .. it makes some food taste even better .. like apples. When was the last time I did have a nice cooked apple? Or a baked apple .. with honey .. and cinnamon. I'm tired. When was the last time she had slept? She curls the fingers of her left hand, weak from misuse, and let them fall open again. It hurt a little, she does not understand why. Being held unable to move in these cold constraints was hurting her limbs, but there was nothing she could do. "I wonder ... are you really spirits, or just a part of me? I don't suppose you would like to give me a clear answer on this now, do you?" She sighs and for the first time .. in she does not know how many hours .. or was it days? .. she takes another look at the grey-faced shapes holding her captive and bound. "I wish the chains weren't so freezing cold .. or at least wrapped in something .. I think my left wrist hurts more than my right. Should I try to even it out?
