Introduction

Corin was a police officer in the Nuo PD under Acuzio Costello-Holly. Unknown events caused him to be placed inside a simulation with his twin sister and their friends. Following the group's escape they were taken to the flying Catacomb fortress where they found out they were in a different reality from their own. Corin is currently awaiting word from Jamie Curio to join up with their newest companion and find a way to get star-bound.

Appearance

Corin is of slightly shorter than average height, but has a normal build and weight for a human male. His background comes from the equivalent of French and Egyptian races from his parents respective areas. His hair is an unusual silver color grown in an unkempt slightly long style, while his eyes are a deep green set to an ever bored stare. He has slightly darker skin than his twin. He's regarded as fairly good looking from his peers. Other remarks about him tend to be along the lines of how he looks fairly harmless and friendly.

Corin's style leans towards the more formal, his usual attire consisting of a dark jacket, a blue button down shirt, and slacks. He wears a NPD uniform when on the job.

Personality

Corin is the best example of "calm, cool, and collected". It is rare to see him give more than an bored, almost blank, look to someone. That's not to say he is completely void of emotions, smiling and laughing when it suits him. He was taught etiquette at a young age and tries to put it to use. He's generally the one to talk for the twins if manners are needed.

His hobbies center more around mental stimulation rather than physical, enjoying cartography, reading, and playing the piano. Finding them soothing ways to focus his mind. On the more physical side, wrestling and weapons practice occupy him, but is much more careful when he engages in them.

Despite a seemingly careless attitude to life, Corin is a proud and prideful person. Disparaging remarks about him he will tolerate, but will not stand for the same for his family. He has fought people for remarks regarding his sister and mother, having sent people to the hospital in extreme cases.

Corin tends to isolate himself when given the chance, not enjoying crowds or even his friends and family at times. This self imposed isolation stems from fear of himself and what he is capable of when he gets out of control. He uses these times to meditate or otherwise practice his self control.

He has a rather one track mind when it comes to his work, using his reputation to intimidate criminals, not having to do more than suggest violence. He'll do anything to make sure people are safe, even if it does mean he gets hurt. He prefers to work alone, given the possible fallout when he is injured.

Family

Bryl Tart

Former officer and Agent of Outside, former death god. "Father". Corin has a good relationship with Bryl and comes to him for advice when he needs it. He feels he can rely on Bryl and looks towards him as a role model. He tried to help Corin learn how to keep himself calm, having only minor luck with it. Found out how to calm Corin down from his berserking. Corin secretly wishes to have a relationship even half as sweet as Bryl and Dacquoise do someday.

Anubis Tart

Bryl's "other half". The Anubis, Avatar of Death. Certified surgeon. "Dad". Corin finds Anubis' tendency to joke around and not take things seriously frustrating at times. Their relationship didn't suffer for it, Anubis still able to advise Corin, even if he didn't seem to know what to say to or treat a child at the time.

Dacquoise Tart

Pâtissière, Agent of Outside, Queen of Light, The Mother. Corin always knew that no matter what he did, Dacquoise would be there for him. She would use her restorative magic to heal the twins if they got seriously hurt, something that happened from time to time. It was after trying to defend her as a child that Corin's berserk condition came to light. She made sure Corin and his sister knew how to cook and take care of themselves if they were hurt. It was her idea to train the twins separately in magic and weapons.

Charles Tart

Former Merchant, Cateau Royal guard, Luma's errand boy and secretary. Brother of Dacquoise. He would often babysit the twins when they were children. Corin always thought he was a bit of a jerk. Never quite understood the fights that his mother and uncle would have on occasion, only that it always ended with his mother exceedingly upset. Often would let the kids play in holo-rooms or with equipment when he was babysitting.

Lumine Tart

Dryad, former control network of the catacombs. Corin adores his older sister, visiting the Grove where she lives. They would play and have fun using Lumine's control over plants, often swiping vegetables and fruits from the beds. He found her a bit flighty but still good hearted.

Estelle Tart

Twin sister. Pain in the butt. She always did the talking for the two of them when they were younger. She tried to protect him in her own way, but usually ended up picking on him. They'd wrestle and generally horse around until they'd pass out or Corin "played too rough", Ellie having to get an adult when that happened. He loves her, to be sure, despite all the harassment she puts him through. He thinks she just has too big of a personality for him. She's the reason he likes personal space, not standing to be away from him for extended periods.

Katilline Luminous Entane

He doesn't know what to make of Kat at times, sometimes enjoying her randomness and sometimes wanting to silence her with her own tail. He's impressed by her skills in computers and how much sheer dexterity she possesses. Sometimes he gets the urge to sit and stroke her tail. Sees her as one of the many "little siblings" he has.

Lily Costello-Holly

He finds an enjoyable reading partner in Lily. He knows he can sit with her, not say a word, and still enjoy each other's company. He does treat her with a little bit more respect than he might with other girls, being his boss' daughter, no less respect that he shows Kat. But she is still his friend, his boss aside. Sees her as one of the many "little siblings" he has.

They wanted to destroy all life. Corin likes living. They are at odds in that case.

Abilities and Powers

Physical Abilities

Corin's training from Val focused heavily on the physical, receiving training in scythes and other two handed weapons as well as hand to hand combat, throwing, and general firearms. Some of his skills take from abilities he naturally picked up and enhanced to combative level.

Corin's strength and control of it is a main factor in his training. From how he wields a scythe, to how best to take down someone in hand to hand. It's all about controlling how much power goes into his actions so he doesn't hurt himself or whoever is on the receiving end if it wasn't intended.

Not all of his knowledge came from training with Val. He often wrestled with Ellie when they were younger, learning quite a few ways to pin his twin down. He used this information when he joined a wrestling team briefly to enhance his wrestling skills.

Magical Abilities

While not completely void of magical capacity, Corin does lack any sort of magic on his own. He can detect and sense magic as anyone with a baseline magical ability can. After whatever incident occurred to fuse the twins, their capacity for magic has combined.

After taking the "Journey of the Magus" Card, Corin unlocked the abilities of the Kaustabham. The abilities it entails are still unknown to him, only knowing that he has access to two differing types of magic at the moment, fire and water. So far he's managed to form a blade of water.

Mental Abilities

Corin is fairly good at intimidating people when necessary. He tries to get into a person's head to mess with them before having to resort to physically threatening them.

Fighting Style

Normal

Corin first goal when it comes to fighting is to get close or otherwise in the way of the enemy from his companions and keep attention focused on him. The second is to try and take them down without getting himself hit and risk losing control. He will try and get in close with his scythe to incapacitate or wound before grappling and wrestling them to the floor. He will use firearms if needed, but if it's melee he is in the fray at all times if possible.

Berserk

Once berserk, Corin will go all out in fighting whoever caused him to go berserk. He loses most rational thought and will pursue his enemy until either they are incapacitated or he is. If a friendly person tries to grab him or in any way try to restrict his movements, he will turn on them. On rare occasions he will turn on his allies with no provocation at all once he's dealt with or lost his target.

When the threat has been removed Corin will calm down, regaining his self control after a number of minutes if left alone. This can be furthered along by covering his head or otherwise removing the target from Corin's sight completely. This, however, runs the risk of him turning on whoever is trying to calm him.

Etymology

Corin

French form of QUIRINUS, Roman, possibly derived from the Sabine word quiris meaning "spear". Quirinus was a Sabine and Roman god who was later identified with Mars.

Tart

English (West Midlands): from Old English teart ‘sharp’, ‘rough’. Americanized spelling of French Tarte: one who was sharp or severe.
