Zinnia Alchancer is a character from the Beast Bind Trinity campaign. She is a pixie that serves under the ancient Gaia and calls upon her power through the art of witchcraft, and has crossed to Earth and taken the guise of a human to follow some of the more environmentalistic advances of mankind, among other tasks as mandated by her more immediate superior, Takaki-hime.

Description

Aya Jin is a fairly ordinary high school girl, average in size and build, though her time spent studying has left her a shade paler than usual. Her black hair is cut to her neck and decorated with a flower hairpin, and her clothes are fairly simple and conservative, sticking to a western-style school uniform or a blouse and skirt in similarly cool colours. Owing to it being winter, she usually has a jacket and leggings on and keeps a fairly brightly-coloured scarf wrapped around her neck, providing some contrast alongside her hairpin.

As Zinnia Alchancer, it's another story; a fraction of the size as a pixie, she is also more spritely in build, her lavender complexion much fairer, and with pointy ears, an energetic disposition and a set of brightly-coloured cicada wings that extend from her back and carry an iridescent sheen. She has always enjoyed playing up the more fantastic aspects of the interpretations of her kind, and as such opts for a white-trimmed indigo dress and shawl hanging from around her shoulders over a violet bodysuit with a hole in the back for her wings, with silver jewellery and embellishments decorating her form.

Professor Seika Taniguchi (谷口星伽, taniguchi seika)

A horticultural professor and beekeeper by hobby, Professor Taniguchi has been working on pioneering new techniques and technologies for cooperative agriculture. Zinnia's fascination with this ingenuity and appreciation towards nature led to her helping the professor but in turn being discovered because of her carelessness. Since then, under the disguise of Aya Jin, Zinnia has been attending her lectures to follow her exploits and kept her expressed appreciation of the human to a sane level, allthewhile hoping she hasn't been doing anything troublesome with her awareness of the supernatural.

Caden Graves

A ghost that has found himself halfway between humanity and the abyss when he succumbed to the cold in the streets of Ikebukuro, Zinnia happened upon him when he called for help, finding him trying to rouse a dead body he didn't recognise as his own. She wound up taking great pity on him and housed him in her atelier for a time, helping Caden adjust to his new life and learn of the world of beasts. Even after he moved out, she continues to dote on him as Aya, supporting him at school and always making sure he's warm, comfortable and safe.

History

Zinnia Alchancer is a pixie, one of many forms of the fey—mystical, capricious creatures of the natural world ruled over by Gaia. Ordinarily, fairies are a dime a dozen, but owing to a strong sense of curiosity, she's one of the few to have embraced the normally human art of witchcraft, magic channelled from the dominion and applied in accordance with Gaia's wishes. This was the starting point to her fascination with humans: their ability to draw power from the oldest Dominator to exist. It was with this power that she created an extradimensional space superimposed over a small spot of wilderness in which her atelier now resides, accessible to her and her friends as they need it.

As a fairy with some distinction for her magical talent, she wound up called to Japan and came to serve under Takaki-hime, daughter of the world tree and granddaughter to Gaia herself, and wound up being dispatched to civilised lands to look into the affairs of mankind in places where nature doesn't readily reach, while told additionally to keep an eye out for people of interest and the lost feathers of the Earth Guardian. This placed her in the Ikebukuro district of Tokyo, where she stayed largely out of sight. She followed her orders dutifully for a time, but she was fascinated by mankind's ingenuity and ability to create novel and revolutionary things, and wound up observing them of her own volition.

One such cause for fascination was Professor Taniguchi, who was working on a personal project to create hives that could non-destructively acquire honey and other horticultural breakthroughs, using the power of human ingenuity to bring mankind in harmony with nature. However, an accident at the university she worked at left her with a sprained wrist, and she found it difficult to even do the paperwork her job required, much less tend to her hobbies.

Zinnia couldn't hold back. She gathered a number of other fairies—brownies along with pixies like herself—and took care of the professor's dwellings and maintained her projects for her while she slept. Unfortunately, during one sleepless night, she and her comrades were spotted by the professor through the window, and when she went down to investigate, Zinnia alone remained when the others fled, leaving her face to face with what had now become one of the Known Men by her error.

Fortunately for Zinnia, Professor Taniguchi also happened to like folktales and fairies, and was willing to keep it a secret. This made her all the more endearing, and Zinnia could not help but continue to follow her exploits, eventually taking the disguise of a human student and studying hard so as to get the opportunity to take some college courses alongside her normal schoolwork, which she used to attend the professor's lectures at any chance she could.

Zinnia since became comfortable with the idea of being a human, and while she still continued to make regular reports to Takaki-hime, her little part of the city was largely peaceful with nothing to actually report on until recently.

It started with a dead body in an alleyway and the ghost which left it, and has only gotten more complicated since then.
