Cutefinder: Non-Player Characters

From Bearscape Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

As is common in tabletop campaigns, the story is not driven by the players alone; there exist quite many people in Kova with a deal of influence or personal connection to the PCs, and as the players and GM are only human, it is worth cataloguing common knowledge for them.

Guildmembers[edit]

Members of the guildhalls of Kova, filed into their respective heraldry.

Guildhall Drakhan[edit]

Alistra
A near-ageless time dragon who has been residing under a human guise. She defected from the Archaeological Society to serve as a personal aide to Gamello, as well as his most powerful assassin. By Gamello's words, she is a sister to Algister, as much as she can be.
Gamello
Drakhan's nihilistic, murderous guildmaster. The composition of his body is a mystery. Despite his efforts to quell it, the secret is out that he's been involved in efforts to ignite a new war between Kova and Krava, and that he's been supplying the other side. Needless to say, it would be considered an understatement to say he's a jerk.

Guildhall Mogaru[edit]

Judicator Juna
Thran Kearney's late wife. She originally came to Kova with him when escaping from a secret Kravan Military program. She died while on a mission where she was posing as one of Drakhan's Judicators with him, and was taken back to the capitol, where it was discovered at some point she apparently signed a parchment that indicated her body was to be destroyed and interred in the Judicator gravesite. After cremation, her ashes vanished, along with her personal effects.
Judicator Arrathan "Thran" Kearney
An elven judicator for Guildhall Mogaru. He has wound up in conflict with the protagonists time and again, attempting to pull Runica, Wren and Dacquoise aside before their outing to Mosulk when he got stopped by Algister, and later posing as one of Drakhan's Judicators within the city. He got skewered—twice—for it, though Dacquoise saved him both times. At this point he has gone entirely rogue and taken a crew of his own to enact vengeance upon Gamello. Currently afflicted by the Cough of Death.
Officer Geoff
Half-elf officer of Mogaru and in secret a judicator for Ercinee as well. He has been understanding and cooperative with Jack, Jakuri and Junior when they arrived upon Mogaru's doorstep with inquiries about the rogue judicator, which earned him a knife in the back. He got better, and is now playing political exile with the gang.

Guildhall Ravager[edit]

Kodai
The guildmaster of Ravager and commander of the Ravager Guard, he is a calm and disciplined half-orc with the controversial viewpoint of considering the Guild independent from the Imperials, as well as the opinion that the Guild and Kova's natives should band together and bring the old war to Krava's doorstep.

Archaeological Society[edit]

The Archaeological Society's leader, Algister

Though a separate group, the archaeological society finds a lot of interaction with the guild's faculty, and tends to try their patience as well. They carry a clear physical distinction from the normal folk by wearing coats with lining inscribed by glyphs that resists magical comprehension, and operate by code names modelled after Golarion's divinities.

Algister (codename: Nethys)
The seemingly senile, possibly prescient old man that leads the Archaeological Society, who appears to be at the center of a number of issues the guild has encountered.
Procyon (codename: Norg)
An Archaeological Society member that gives out valuable relics like candy and bears an artefact that obscures memories of his name, which combined with his style of information gathering has led to his rather ambitious choice of alias.
Asterion (codename: Abadar)
Archaeological Society member. Despite his efforts to the contrary, he is not a doctor. Do not agree to let him operate on you.
Allele Luxa (codename: Shelyn)
Algister's personal aide, an empath and remarkably sane person given both that and who she has to put up with. She went on a picnic with Dacquoise Tart once.
Cyladro (codename: Cixyron)
Effectively the muscle of the Archaeological Society, and much like Procyon has chosen to introduce himself under a particularly fiendish alias. Ironically, despite the choice in aliases, the two don't show much affection for each other. On top of the usual rune-inscribed coat, he wears a high-tech helmet and packs a big gun.

Other Affiliations[edit]

Kova is a diverse and busy nation, and by extension many allegiances go beyond the guild, with various noble houses, mercenary and trade groups, as well as external factions vying for Kova's wealth and prosperity all at once if they're not simply trying to survive.

House Argensolde[edit]

A high-class Imperial merchant family in the port town Mosulk that operates the Argensolde Trading Company and various... less legal operations.

Aramara
Maid of House Argensolde and Runica's personal nanny/future lady-in-waiting. Strongheaded, hot-tempered and downright energetic enough for the two of them. While intent to stay at Runica's side after her return to the capitol, she has been left with Wren after the young mistress took off after Dacquoise.
Istudur
Servant to House Argensolde. Assists in matters of "trade". After discovering the Judicators were interested in him enough to ransack his house, he was sent to the Capitol to lay low. He has since gone missing, and judging by Kearney's future accounts, things did not go too well for him.
Raine Argensolde (maiden name: Raine Chancer)
Mother to Runica Argensolde and wife to Theodore Argensolde. Up until the two elves' marriage, her career was a sellsword, duelist and bodyguard; with Mosulk's political climate, she still finds time and opportunity to practice the latter two, along with providing fencing lessons as a hobby.
Theodore Argensolde
Father to Runica Argensolde, husband of Raine Argensolde and current leader of the Argensolde Trading Company. While ostensibly a legitimate business, Kova's plentiful supply of powerful artefacts and the guild's restrictions on their export have led to the formation of a small underground empire specialising in trade of these dangerous luxuries, shipping them across Golarion through trade routes in Casmaron and Tian-Xia.

The Innsmouth[edit]

Not all that works within Kova is from the modern day. Ancient machinations have awoken in times recent and distant, as have survivors of the crash.

Fourth Tower of Artonelico (nickname: Forth)
The broadcasting system, Song Magic provider and SH server of the tower emulator within the Innsmouth. The crash caused a factory reset of the main systems (though the SH server was miraculously safe), which allowed Mule to claim administrative privileges to the whole ship and declare the tower emulator the aforementioned name. The sentient component of the system is a Reyvateil, but in the same vein as the β-6Ds of old, she lacks a body and is essentially an extension of the tower itself.
Gaolor
An artificial intelligence (I-Core) governing the underwater ruins of the Crossings. It is designed to guard what few dangerous artefacts remain in its ownership and does not like people snooping around as a result. Now, it can't be said that it's dead since as Scribe argues they aren't alive to begin with, but Gaolor's probably dead.
Kau
Dacquoise Tart's mentor and surrogate parent. She was in fact a survivor of the Innsmouth, bringing Dacquoise to the surface with her and joining up with the guild.
Scribe
An artificial intelligence—or I-Core, according to CorFor member Lucifer—found on the way to Mosulk. While originally designed to maintain data storage for manipulator diagrams, to which much was recovered, it has since taken the job of being Dacquoise's sun buddy.

CorFor[edit]

An agency belonging to the Transhuman and Uplift arm of the United Federation of Systems' Military Complex. Most of them carry lycanthropic qualities, capable of shifting from human to a bestial werewolf form or even take the shape of corgis which Dacquoise thinks are cute as a button.

Gallahad
CorFor's captain and team manifestor. Loves to entertain guests.
Lucifer
Team doctor and trained alchemist. The only one who escaped when the team was captured, and later posted a mission at the guild to help look for a 'lost hellhound'. While his corgi form is mixed with lab genes, he carries rather fiendish traits no matter which form he's in.
Davis
Team engineer and scout. A cautious and soft-spoken sort when he isn't given a technical conundrum to play with. Hus-gi.
Grit
Team gunner and demolitionist. Comes from a warrior culture and is very by the book. Bulldog/corgi mix.
Rufus
The team's public face during their foray to Kova. A mute but very well trained operative, and his lycanthropy is uncontrolled. Has an adverse reaction to manipulator energies.

Judi-Crew[edit]

Judicator Thran Kearney's crew that's camped out by the east borders. They're keeping the border safe, or at least killing Kravan elves as they come.

Gi'o
Undine alchemist from Guildhall Bukavac. Poison and Acid based assassin. Handy at taking apart metal. Tired of Wick's shit.
Wick
Human pyromaniac sorcerer from Ravager, Large Beast Hunter. All about the fire. Likes to pick on Gi'o.
Mellie
Human war-cleric of Gorum. She's a scary, quiet, lady. Carries the biggest stick in the party.
