Beast Bind Trinity: Glossary
This is a list of terminology used in Beast Bind Trinity. While provided for the specific campaign on Bearscape, it applies generally to any other campaigns using the same system.
Setting Terminology[edit]
- Apostle (アポスル aposuru)
- Trusted subordinates who have been given power by a Dominator.
- Beast (魔獣 majuu)
- Inhuman creatures who live in the darkness of human society, able to draw enormous power from their Ego.
- Those who are neither Dominators or halfbreeds are simply called 'monsters'.
- Dominator (ドミネーター domineetaa)
- A powerful Beast whose insatiable Ego twists the world itself, allowing them to control their own Dominion.
- Dominion (ドミニオン dominion)
- A parallel world created by a Dominator. A Dominion is controlled by 'World Laws' which reflect the Dominator's Ego.
- Small Dominions are referred to as Arenas.
- Feather (羽根(フェザー) fezaa)
- Fragments of the power of the "Earth Guardian", Apostle of the Earth Dominion, fallen from her back and scattered across the world.
- Those who obtain one, whether they're human, monster, or halfbreed are granted great power and a great Ego.
- Half-breed (半魔 hanma)
- Monsters who associate with and try to live among humans, or humans who have surpassed humanity and stepped into the realm of monsters.
- In short, those with a foot in each world.
- All PCs are halfbreeds.
- Horror (異形 igyou)
- Beasts who have been consumed by the Abyss, now existing only to pursue their own Egos.
- Ikebukuro (池袋)
- A commercial district in Tokyo where countless monsters and halfbreeds live.
- Due to countless Feathers falling into this town, various factions are constantly clashing here to steal them from each other.
- Known Man (ノウンマン noun man)
- Slang for those who are aware of the truth that Beasts exist.
- Unknown Man (アンノウンマン announ man)
- Slang for those who are unaware of the existence of Beasts.
Rule Terminology[edit]
- Ability Score (能力値 nouryokuchi)
- Numbers representing a characters strength, intelligence, etc.
- Divided into basic ability scores and combat ability scores.
- Arts (アーツ aatsu)
- Superhuman abilities, special skills, and monstrous traits possessed by a character.
- Snip boring analogy to computer games
- Attack (攻撃 kougeki)
- Any action using a weapon or Art to attempt to inflict damage.
- Divided into melee attacks, ranged attacks, and special attacks.
- Backstage (舞台裏 butai ura)
- Outside of the scene. Where characters not presently appearing are managed.
- Bad Status (バッドステータス baddo suteetasu)
- Negative effects beyond simple damage, such as panic or poison.
- Beast Bind Trinity (ビーストバインド トリニティ biisuto baindo toriniti)
- This game. Abbreviated as BBT.
- Beast Transformation (魔獣化 majuuka)
- When a PC takes their true form, revealing their real power and nature as a monster.
- Blood (ブラッド buraddo)
- A broad category defining a characters origins as a monster. Snip wordy listing of what Bloods are in the core book
- A Blood defining a characters fundamental nature is referred to as their Primary Blood.
- A supportive or modifying descriptor is a Secondary Blood.
- Bonds (絆 kizuna)
- The concept of connection with others. Vitally important to halfbreeds.
- Crowd (クラード kuraado)
- A group that is mechanically treated as a single character.
- Ego (エゴ ego)
- A powerful desire or impulse. The source of a monster or halfbreeds energy.
- Engagement (エンゲージ engeeji)
- An abstract representation of relative distance between characters. Mainly governs whether a melee attack is possible or not.
- FP
- Short for Flesh Points. Represents how much damage a character can withstand.
- GM
- Short for Game Master. Come on, I don't have to explain this.
- Humanity (人間性 ningensei)
- A number representing a half-breeds human-like feelings and desire to live among mankind.
- Any number of factors can chip away at it, and if lost completely the half-breed Falls and becomes a complete monster... or Horror.
- Love (愛 'ai')
- Power born from your Bonds. Mainly used to help other characters.
- Major Action (メジャーアクション mejaa akushon)
- A primary action such as an attack or use of a powerful Art. You may generally only take one per round.
- Master Scene (マスターシーン masutaa shiin)
- A scene in which the PCs do not appear, consisting only of the GM describing events.
- Minor Action (マイナーアクション mainaa akushon)
- A relatively simple action that can be performed immediately before a Main Action, such as using an item or a supportive Art.
- Move Action (ムーブアクション muubu akushon)
- An action pertaining to movement, performed immediately before a Minor Action.
- Mutation (変異 hen-i)
- The phenomenon of monstrous features appearing as one loses their Humanity.

- Nope.
- PC
- That's a nope.
- Player (プレイヤー pureiyaa)
- Houston, we have a nope.
- Primary Blood (プライマリブラッド puraimari buraddo)
- A Blood representing the characters fundamental nature as a Beast.
- Released State (解放状態 kaihou joutai)
- A state in which a PC half-breed uses the power of their Bonds to surpass their own limits.
- Roots (ルーツ ruutsu)
- Bloods divided into more detailed categories. 3 exist for each Blood in the primary rulebook for a total of 30.
- SA
- Short for Spiritual Anchor. A key that keeps the PC halfbreeds tied to the human world.
- Essentially, a scenario goal or guideline.
- Scenario (シナリオ shinario)
- A session framework laid out by the GM ahead of time.
- Scene (シーン shiin)
- An abstract unit of in-game time measurement. A single session is composed of multiple scenes connected end-to-end.
- Session (セッション sesshon)
- A single session of play.
- Sin (罪 tsumi)
- Power gained by pursuing ones Ego. Primarily used to strengthen ones self.
- Style (スタイル sutairu)
- A category primarily denoting a characters role in combat.
- Three Styles exist: Attacker, Defender, and Supporter.
